My heart broke wide open on Sunday. From the first note played on the keyboard to the last word of the last hymn- everything spoke to my heart. Like the entire service was written just for me.
Have you ever felt sliced wide open like that? Like no matter how many walls and barricades you try to put between you and whatever it is you’re trying to hide from? It’s just not enough?
My fear of the unknown has probably kept me from living my “best life” or the life + the path God has laid out for me. My fear of failure, of disappointing those I love, and numerous other things. I don’t say this for pity I just hope it makes you think + possibly bring yourself some clarification and some awareness to the “boat” you find yourself in.
Paraphrasing from Pastor Gary: what kind of boat do you find yourself in? maybe a rickety John boat? Where you feel every crash and lull of the waves? And you’re facing your fears and the unknown head on? Or maybe you find yourself in a luxury cruise liner- a vessel that takes you through the same waters as everyone else but maybe one that shields you from the storms of life.
I encourage you to step out of your “boat” this week, whatever that may look like for you. Face a fear. Do a thing. Make that call. Take that job.
Ships are safe in the harbor- but that’s not what ships are built for.
I pray that you have courage + take heart this week for the LORD your God is ALWAYS with you. Amen.
