What’s in a name?
Do you associate parts of your identity with it?
Or to whom?
Do you know where your name comes from?
What it’s origins are?
Who gave it to you?
It’s history?
Have you ever thought about it?
I think about my name a lot- it’s fairly unique- both in popularity + spelling.
It has sparked some good conversations over the years + has become an anthem for my independence + creative nature.
I used to get SO annoyed that folks couldn’t or wouldn’t??? say my name correctly but now I just laugh it off and say: “I’ll answer to just about anything these days!” and that usually gets a good laugh. I would rather have a unique name than not and the older I get I just love it and think it’s such a pretty name and honestly thank my parents for daring to be different with mine and my brother’s names. It’s another way I think just connects us as siblings and as a family and I think that’s really special.
